Speaker 1:

What a week, guys. It has been a roller coaster of a ride in every aspect of life. And I'm not just talking me personally, I'm talking about the world. We've got craziness going on in politics. We have craziness going on in the Middle East. We've got craziness all around.

Speaker 1:

And I know this podcast is meant for entrepreneurs, small business owners, you guys out there side hustling but sometimes we just have to step back and say, wow, there's a lot going on and what are we going to do to actually digest it. But then also make sure that we are taking care of ourselves, because if we're not, how are we going to do anything in life for our business, for our family, for our friends, for anything that you want to accomplish? And there's just so much noise in the world today and by all means I'm not going political, nor am I going anything else other than there's a lot of stuff going on and it's scary, other than there's a lot of stuff going on and it's scary. But also, the same time is, this is all about focus for us entrepreneurs and small business owners to make sure that we're on the right path for ourselves, for our families, for the people we support. But, better yet, how do we get through all the noise? And I think how I'm approaching this is a little different and I say think, but it. I think how I'm approaching this is a little different and I say think, but it's truly how I feel is, as an entrepreneur, most of the time we're working in the business and not on it, and that distracts us, and all of these world events and things happening in the United States is a distraction.

Speaker 1:

Yes, you need to be cognizant of what's going on, making sure your family's protected and safe, but also, at the same time, you have to be dialed in to the things that mean the most to you, that are the most precious to you. Make sure that you don't lose focus on those things, because when we lose focus, everything seems to fall apart and to say that happening is horrible, because I've been there and we've all been in tough spots in life. But I think some of the reasons why we get in these tough spots is we allow outside influence and this is where I'm circling back around. For business and entrepreneurship, we let other people dictate how we think and what we do, instead of tuning out that noise and being able to follow our passions, follow our purpose. Sometimes they can be right, other times they're not.

Speaker 1:

But if you don't actually follow through on what you're trying to do and accomplish, how are you supposed to ever know whether or not you were meant for that business or whatever you're trying to do, if you don't actually go after it? And this noise that we continue to hear day in and day out is tough. You've got people sitting on your shoulder telling you what to do in all means. It's great to have guidance, coaches and support, but then you have people in your life that are just talking noise and they're just causing more friction and trouble than what they're worth. And I know as human beings and I know as a human being we struggle with getting rid of that dead weight in our life and sometimes it's probably the most daunting task to do, but also, at the same time, it's probably the best thing that you can do, because to be healthy and be able to move forward in life you have to have clarity, and clarity comes from dropping people out of your life that are holding you back Personally, spiritually, mentally, physically, business-wise. All of that ties in.

Speaker 1:

And if you have these individuals that are sticking around, that are just bringing you down, how does that affect you? I know for me. It affects me very badly, but it also puts me almost in a depression state where I'm unmotivated to do things, which makes no sense to me whatsoever, because I'm a highly motivated person. But sometimes we all hit a wall and we hit speed bumps. There's issues in life, but those people are more than just issues. They slow you down and sometimes even stop you. So this week it's just short and sweet and talking about being able to take the noise, tune it out, pay attention to what's going on. But in the end you need to make sure that you're taking care of the people and the things that are most important to you, that you love and cherish, and never let your dreams, your aspirations, your purpose, your passion be taken away from you because of the noise, whether it's outside things happening or other people that are trying to tell you otherwise.

Speaker 1:

Wrong state of mind, wrong state of mind, and it becomes very difficult to come out of that state if you're there for too long. Can you rekindle the fire? Sure, you can. It takes a lot more work. I talk about it and I don't. I joke a little bit about it too, because I'm sarcastic. Persistence is key to life. It too because I'm sarcastic Persistence is key to life.

Speaker 1:

And can you say I'm scared to start certain things or do certain things? Yes, I am. Can I do better at not working in the business and working on the business? Yes. Have I made plenty mistakes along the way while running the business? Yes, but the one thing that I've not done is give up by all means. In my head it has come up a lot of times, but I always find a way to be able to kick it in the butt and push forward, to get myself in a better place and to learn from my mistakes. And the one other thing that I've always been not always I've been hesitant on because I see a lot of these people on social media and advertising are mentors Because most of them want you to pay tens of thousands of dollars up front and then, lo and behold, they fix your life. I'm skeptical of that because I think that's bullshit, just straight up, it's BS.

Speaker 1:

But at the same time, if you find a tribe or a person that works with you, you stick with that person. Does it mean that mentors don't work? No, it just means you have to find the right person or people or group and that takes time. And I think that's one of my struggles in life is that I've not given it enough time to find a tribe and group, which I have one and potentially two, but then also I want to be able to have an individual mentor. I haven't got there yet. I know there's a lot of work that needs to be done on that front, because I am gun shy, I'm not going to, I won't do it unless I really feel comfortable, because I think I'm my worst critic, but also, at the same time, I feel but I can fix a lot of them and I need help along the way to get the rest of the way.

Speaker 1:

But somebody that tells me that they're going to charge me $20,000 or $30,000 for mentorship and they're going to solve all my issues, I have heartburn and I also have my spidey senses go off and they tell me that that person's full of crap. They're just looking for a high ticket and call it a day and move on, and that's great. Those people are out there and there's people that can do it. Now, if there was some type of money back guarantee or something that had skin in the game other than give me all your money up front, I might look at it and talk to them a little bit more. But I've not found a mentor that's willing to say okay, I've got skin in the game. If I can't help you improve your business by X, we're ready to go. They don't do that, it's just basically give me the money. That's one of my heartburns that I need to work on.

Speaker 1:

But the other thing is, once you get to a point in life, as you get older, they say you get tired of dealing with the BS. It's an old adage. But also the same time as you get tired of busting your hump for not much, and you have to find a way to make that happen. And the way to make that happen, like I said earlier, is if you're running a business, you've got to start getting out of the business and getting people in the business that can help you grow and have you focus on things that you're best at Like.

Speaker 1:

For me, I love being the front of the business, the face, the front, however, you want to say it and to be able to talk to people, bring them in and then bring them into people that can actually help them with, whether they're trying to buy a house or they are looking to get a loan. Whatever the case is, that's where I excel All the nuts and bolts, but I don't excel at it. There's people that'll do it better than I can. So, guys, I'll leave you with this. All the noise outside is you need to pay attention to, but you also need to tune it out and stay hyper-focused on taking care of your four walls and your family and your loved ones and your friends. But when you lose sight of what you're trying to accomplish because of all the noise, that's when the wheels fall off the vehicle and it becomes so much more difficult to get back on the road. Stay focused on what is important to you, stay true to yourself and let's go out and get it. Have a good one, guys.
