In today’s episode of the Chasing Happiness Podcast, I’m diving deep into how small shifts in your daily routine can lead to massive improvements in your productivity, mindset, and business. Over the past week, I’ve been working hard to implement three key habits that have transformed my approach to each day—habits that have made me more focused, less anxious, and more successful in my personal and business life.
I know that life as an entrepreneur is filled with distractions. We all juggle multiple tasks at once, but how effective is that multitasking really? In this episode, I’ll share the powerful 3-step process I’ve been using to prioritize my day, cut out distractions, and achieve the most critical goals to my bottom line. You’ll learn how to break your day into focused chunks, eliminate distractions, and implement a productivity routine that allows you to not just meet your goals—but exceed them.
Key Takeaways from This Episode:
- How to structure your day like a high-performer by prioritizing the tasks that move the needle for your business.
- It is important to clear your mental clutter and deal with the things from your past that are holding you back.

Guys, last week, if you didn't listen to the podcast, go back and listen to the prior episode. We focused in on being highly effective in our tasks on a daily basis and taking notes and making sure we're journaling in the morning. I wanted to give you guys an update on what I've been doing this week. So journaling has been consistent every single day. I have broken my day up into two aspects 6 am to 12 pm, 12 pm to 6 pm. Even though I'm not Ed Milet, he does it to three. I wanted to start with two. 6 am to 12 pm is I'm up at 4.30. I walk most. I go out, I get my head ready, journal, read some scripture, get ready and get in the saddle. I'm typically in the saddle between 6.30 and 7. Here's the difference. I don't let other things that come in during my day to distract me. I struggled with that every single day. I still struggle with it. I struggled with that every single day. I still struggle with it.
Speaker 1:But I'm learning the top priority tasks that I've put out there for myself to complete. I do not go past go. I do not go out to have fun. I don't reward myself until those tasks are done. Typically I've got between five to seven tasks and I've been completing this past week, three to four a day. So I have some carryover. But guess what's happening? Mindset wise, it's changing how I'm looking at my day, prioritizing the items that are going to be revenue generators that improve the bottom line, and two. It's the items that are going to be revenue generators that improve the bottom line, and two, it's the items that have been holding me back in the past, clearing my past from today. I struggle with it. I've got things from the past that I have to deal with that are not revenue generators that suck the life out of me, and we now are starting to get those off of my plate. They're starting to have here an ending point Getting the second house sold on Barrett Park, finishing up the after sale work on the first house, getting the lots sold and built. All those things are from my past and I feel like, as I get them off my plate, there's a huge lift off my shoulders, off my chest, off of my worries, anxiety. I'm anxious about it because I really want to get them completed, move forward and done, completed, move forward and done. Here's what I can tell you from a week of doing this One.
Speaker 1:It's a struggle. Two, I have to stay highly focused. I cannot let my phone, my text messages, emails, all the other distractions bother me. I have to stay highly focused on the task at hand. Easier said than done, I'm still using the first two hours of me sitting down of my day where I do not disturb and I just focus in on that. I don't know how much further I can go past two hours. I tend to have some jitters and I start having withdrawals just to be transparent. Withdrawals just to be transparent. But I need to find a way to take those two hours and make them the most productive in my day and then be able to translate that into two parts of my day. I'd like to add a third. He breaks his day out to six to twelve, twelve to six and then six, six pm to midnight. If I'm getting two days in one day's worth of work, I'm double the production of my competition or anybody out there.
Speaker 1:If I can continue to refine my skill set and be able to be highly focused on what I'm trying to accomplish, it's going to be game changing for my life. It's going to be game changing for my life. It's going to be game changing for my business. It's going to be game changing overall. It'll allow me to be present. It'll allow me to enjoy life in the now. It'll allow me to enjoy what I'm doing instead of being under stress and anxious all the time.
Speaker 1:I feel like I can bring this to a finish line in a shorter period of time than I anticipated. I thought this is going to take months, if not longer. I think we potentially could be in the week weeks I should say weeks instead of months just for the simple fact of focused on three things right now, and those maybe it's easier because these three things I know I have to get done. These three things are my past that have to be cleared up. I'll give you a follow-up on that after I get those three done, because those all three should be done by the end of the month, two of them for sure. The third will be a little bit of a linger, but the two should be. That would be a huge change in my path, on my road.
Speaker 1:The other thing that I'm doing is really being hyper-focused on my mindset and also what I'm trying to accomplish from a goal perspective. Goals are very easy to set, but not many people actually achieve them. There is something in there called a standard. So if you don't have standards tied into your goals, how do you know how to achieve the goal? I know you can do smart goals and all that other stuff. That's great, but I'm learning now that smart goals don't actually give me an endpoint, a standard. I want to be able to create a standard, like.
Speaker 1:A good example would be Nick Saban, college football, the most winningest coach in college football Seven championship rings, eight, whatever it is. I don't remember off the top of my head that guy's a grinder, but the one thing that he did was he had his team's practice until they couldn't get it wrong. Not practice until they get it right, they practice until they couldn't get it wrong. So it was muscle memory, it was a thought process, and that book that I've talked about in the past, go read it Atomic Habits Stacking your wins, stacking what you need to do during the day, is huge because it becomes muscle memory.
Speaker 1:It becomes part of your routine, part of your routine, and if I can train myself to be in this routine on a daily basis, to where I always stack what needs to be done at the top and clear out my past, clear out the things that are the most critical for the bottom line. I win, my family wins, my business wins, my life wins, my family wins, my business wins, my life wins. Everything changes for the better. But until I can do that consistently, it's going to be a struggle. There were times where I was on the struggle bus. I was tired, I didn't sleep well because I was anxious the night before to try to get things done and it just kept me going. But the one thing I know that helps me in the morning is journaling and reading some scripture, just calming my mind. That really sets my day up for success.
Speaker 1:But the one other thing I want to share during this is the journey of being broken. We're all broken in some sense. I know I'm broken in many different ways. But if you've been through a life altering experience or some type of experience that you've gone through and you've literally gone from one side, which is not good, to the other side, which is great, and you've changed your life and it's improved, you know who you are, guess what you can help others during that situation. So if somebody approaches you and says oh, by the way, I'm in whatever, I'm trying to get out of debt. You've gotten out of debt, so could you help that person. Even though you're broken, but you've lived that part of your life to where you can actually share your experiences, you can be that lever that person can pull on when they need that help. That's what's helping me.
Speaker 1:Change is putting myself out there, even though I know I'm broken in many places throughout life. Myself out there, even though I know I'm broken in many places throughout life. Putting myself out there to help others that are potentially in the same situation that I was or currently are, and just be there for them. Help out, have a conversation, provide some, provide support, provide support.
Speaker 1:It's so rewarding but also, at the same time, it helps me get clarity in my own life, because I could be talking to that person about that topic and all of a sudden something comes to my mind and I can share it with that person and bounce it off that person, which leads me to the other place, getting into rooms where you're a smaller fish in a bigger pond. It's something I've struggled with and I feel by doing this, by helping others, it's helping me springboard to get into bigger rooms, to get into places that I want to be. In the end, it's helping others that are going through something you've gone through. It's rewarding you learn, but you're also giving back. All right, guys? Hope you guys have a great week, stay healthy, stay safe. I'll see you guys on the other side.
